The Lady Grey is quite the time consuming project. I spent half of today on the lining alone. But this is looking ok so far. All thats left to do is the bottom hem and sleeve hems and.... It needs buttons!
I'd like to know what you guys think... any suggestions, I'm stumped...
Here is the jacket so far...
Maybe red to match the lining? Thoughts?
what about large shinny silver buttons. Like these maybe like deees.... http://www.buttons.com/Item_Results.asp?Style=96161
ReplyDeleteHey! I didn't even think of silver, what a great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! I'd personally go for some really chunky oversized wooden buttons on it.
ReplyDeleteI see big tortoise shell buttons! I also second Alex that wood ones would be great too.
ReplyDeleteOh wow it's so cute!! I like either chunky wood buttons or tortoise shell, something earthy and neutral. I'd avoid committing to a colour like red - what if you want to wear pink underneath? :)
ReplyDeleteI also think tortoise shell first, then dark wooden buttons second choice for me. Good luck deciding, looks great thus far!
ReplyDeleteWow, why didn't I think of these... Thanks for your ideas guys. I'll let you know how button hunting goes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great jacket! I think a gold or bronze button would look nice.
ReplyDeleteThat looks fantastic! I think oversized silver or tortoise shell buttons would rock it!
ReplyDeleteThat is looking amazing!I'm with the girls on the tortoise shell buttons! Can't wait to see what you do go with. That is going to be a well loved and well used jacket!
ReplyDeleteOh its beautiful ;) I love the thought of red buttons on this to match the lining - you are so talented lady!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use buttons at all. I'd make a belt, wide and sash like. This coat ha a beautiful drape and a sash would enhance that.
ReplyDeleteOh blackberry its like youve sewn it before! There is a giant sash already, forgot to mention that... Its wide and long and you are right, it does enhance! It just needs 2 buttons to keep it closed.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see you use polka dots. Blackberry, candy apple red, or classic black with white.
ReplyDeleteSarah :)
